Cemetery Blog

First Post

My first time writing a blog for anything let alone a cemetery. It's mid-day sitting here just looking out the window at all the people walking by. It's nice to see so many people here to remember a family member. It brings to mind a desire of mine to great such a wonderful environment for families to come and mourn as needed. We get the good and the bad crops of life here, varying from the little babies that we have to bury to the people that lived to be 103, gang shootings to veterans losing their life in wars, and my goal in life is to make sure that they can leave this cemetery knowing that the stories they read on the internet or hear on the news will not happen here. I want the families to feel that there will never be any problems, but of course you know there will always be problems, just as our old manager said in the 1980's in the press telegram, "Working at a public cemetery is hard, You are always correcting and finding other peoples mistakes".
Working at the cemetery the last three years has been an interesting experience. I have worked along with Robert, Sergio and my grandmother to make this cemetery what it is starting to shape out to be, and of course we have found the problems that our old manager made. Try as hard as you want to make no mistakes, but you are always going to make at least one in your time, because we are all human.
It is the times like today, when I look at the faces of the family members leaving the funeral services of their family that I see that my dream is coming true.
